Yes the name Reuben Jordan turns up in some Meador records, but the following are just a few of the references I could cite in support for the fact that Susannah Meador's maiden name was Morris and she m. Edward cty., VA John Morris gave consent for his daughter to marry Archelaus Elmore (they were married on 15 Nov; Archelaus was "dis[owned for] m[arrying] o[ut of] u[nity] by the Society of Friends on 11 Dec 1756 [ref Hinshaw's Quaker Records, VA] Jul 1756 Susannah Elmore Administratrix of Archilus Elmore Plaintiff v. agt John Brown Def. for L235 tobacco, judgment for plaintiff [Pr. Edward cty. Order Book 3, p.99] Jan 25 1775 Jas. Meador gave bond as Guardian to Thos. Martha, Elizabeth, John Archer & Judith Elmore Orphans of Archelus Elmore, dec'd. [Amelia cty. Order Book 13, p.308] (The Elmore children also had a sister Ann, already married to Edmund Craddock. Thomas Elmore described her as his sister in a deed of trust on 27 Oct 1791, Amelia VA, Deed bk. 19, p.128) Clark v. Saxon [Laurens Co. Equity Court records, Box 15, package 12] proves that Ann (Elmore) Craddock m. (2)James Saxon. Will of Susannah Meador [Laurens cty., SC probate records Box 49, package 8] names daughter Ann Saxon. Ann is the only one of her Elmore children named in will, but there are other records I can cite proving she was the mother of John Archer, Judith, et al., Elmore.
