    3. Ray, I don't show him listed with the 53rd. I do show a James B. Parker with the 2nd Cav. Co. K. If this is the same person, then it was not uncommon for one to serve in more than one unit. I would suggest trying to get his military records for confirmation. I also show a J. B. Parker listed with the 12th Inf. Co. C & with the 14th Inf. Co. K. For some interesting information about a particular unit, go to Ken Jones Web site at: http://www.tarleton.edu/~kjones/alregts.html. Click on the unit that your're interested in and will sometimes have the muster roll, flag, and info about the unit. For Military History look-ups utilizing Family Treemaker about an individual, go to: http://www.familytreemaker.com/index.html click on "Research Services" , From this page, click on "Military Records" in the left hand column. From this page, ( If you have the name and the unit ), click on "Confederate Army Service Records (#512)". >From here, this will put you on their secured server and you can order after supplying the required information. For ordering Military history about an individual through the State of Alabama Archives, go to http://www.archives.state.al.us/referenc/family.html , click on "Military Records" , from this page, click on "Civil War", from this page click on "Confererate Military Unit History Files" , from this page click on "Submit Reference Request" at the bottom of the page. >From here, fill in the requested information. I have used both of these in obtaining Military records about particular individuals and have had good results with either one. FTM is a lot faster with returning your request but usually costs a liitle more. Also another method is going through Washington but have lost the info on how to do as it takes 6-8 weeks to get the info whereas FTM usually returns in about 2-3 weeks.
