[In another place in Uncle James' records, Edith E. Snow is identified as living in 1949 in the Allstates Hotel in Washington, DC, having never married. She was born 11 Jul 1880 at Lancaster, VA, the oldest of 8 children of Julian Franklin Snow (b. 28 Sep 1855--d. 12 Feb 1917) and Martha Ann Derby (b. 25 Oct 1860 in Cahaba, AL); Martha Ann Derby was the first of two daughters of Charles Alexander Derby (b. 12 Sep 1828; d. Wed., 17 Sep 1862 on the battlefield of Sharps- burg, MD; he was an Episcopal minister at St. Luke's Church in Cahaba, AL) and Charlotte Basset (b. 22 Mar 1838 at #3 Eastern place, Worthing Sussex, England, d/o William Basset and Harriet Bowley; d. 26 Aug 1910 at Lawrenceville, VA). Charlotte m1. 28 Dec 1859 at St. Luke's Church, Cahaba, AL to Rev. C.A. Derby; m2. 9 Nov 1871 to Rev. Henry L.
