    3. Jim - thanks so much for the help on my ancestor, Menzo Watson. With the information you gave me, I was able to contact the Archives in Montgomery. It turns out that he was from New York and moved to Cahaba just a few years before the onset of The War. He fought for the Confederacy, of course! Now, I'm seeing what I can learn from the New York State Archives. I have another ancestor I'm hoping you'll be able to do a look-up on. His name was Atlas Jones Martin. He may have gone by A.J. Martin. We have never heard of anything concerning his Civil War Service. He was born in 1820, so he would have been in the right range to be a soldier. He died well into old age, so I'm assuming he was healthy. He was a wealthy landowner and farmer, so we wonder if maybe his "service" was to supply the troops with food. Would there be any indication of that sort of thing? Or, maybe he was a regular soldier, but it was never discussed. He didn't lose his land after the war, so maybe he signed the oath and just didn't want any of it discussed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, again!
