Family story is they went to Canada before coming to Alabama. Their son, Robert Joseph Fowler b 1846 in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada, married Alabama Cornelia Cook b 1850(?) in Lowndes County, AL. Parents of Alabama Cornielia Cook were Francis Marion Cook and Ella Louise Mathias (alternate spelling Matthos- a Spaniard from Madrid, Spain via Florida).We have information he was involved in Selma city government around 1870- 1880, and would appreciate knowing sites online involving city council etc. He may have been at one time fire chief for City of Selma. Child of Robert Joseph Fowler and Alabama Cornelia Cook was Robert Joseph Fowler Jr., b 1875 in Selma, Dallas County, AL, d 1948 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, OK. He married Kate Myrtle Traylor. R.J. Fowler Jr. became a detective for the New York Central and Pierre Marquette railroads. The Fowler family was close friends with a Pettis family also from Selma.
