Hi all! I sure hope somebody can help me out here, because I don't know much at all about Alabama records. Other than the Census Records, which existing records of Dallas County would be most likely to provide the most information about the families in Dallas County about 1840? Would there have been taxpayer records? Voting records? Records of schools in each beat/district? What about commerce on the rivers in Dallas Co., would there be any records of boats docking, cargoes unloaded, cargo destinations, etc. Records of conveyence (sale) of property other than land? If anyone knows of such records or any others, and where they are kept (Dallas Co., or Alabama Archives in Montgomery) I surely would appreciate any knowledge you can share. Thanks, Arlene
