In the book Reminiscences of Public Men in Alabama by William Garrett, p. 748 lists in 1820 from Dallas County one Horatio S. Perry. Then in 1829, 30 and 31 there is the name Horatio G. Perry. My gr gr grandfather, b. in Dallas County in 1830 was named Horatio Perry Harris. His father was Winford/Wintford Harris who d. circa 1833 leaving his widow Amanda Caroline Harris (I don't know her maiden name), their son Horatio and two sisters, Emily Caroline and Mary Elizabeth. I'm wondering if there could be any connection with my Horatio Perry Harris and the two Perry men listed in the book. Amanda and her children came to Texas by 1837. I also have a letter from a William H. Norris, p. 192 of the same book, written to my Horatio Perry Harris in 1852 and signed Your friend, truly Wm. H. Norris. Since I'm searching for Amanda's maiden name I thought I'd see if anyone recognizes any of these names. I also have no marriage date for Winford and Amanda but probably 1825. Amanda b. in GA 10 April 1810. Thanks for any information. Nancy (Nlamesa@aol.com)
