Arlene, I, too, am tracking McCulloughs. Mine are from Cherokee Co., AL, Blount and Knox Cos in TN.' Your migration from Scotland to Texas to Alabama is unusual. Usually at that time, they landed on the east coast, then made their way westward. There is an excellent site for Civil War information: http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Lair/3680/cw/cw.html However, for the bad news, I couldn't find the 30th. Sometimes the regiments were decimated fairly early in the war and the remainders were combined with others and thus are listed with the second regiment. I had this problem with one of my grandpas. Todd Molesworth who runs the web site for the 26th AL Infantry is a good source. He can either tell you or help you find out if there was a combination and what it was. His e-mail address is on the site for the 26th. Good luck. Jane Emde
