The log of last Thursday night's chat is available. My apologies once again for getting there late and for the 20 minute gap in the middle. I was bumped offline a little after 10 pm and had the darndest time getting back on. I see from the log that several people were talking to me. I wasn't being rude folks but was on and off and missed you. Sorry. http://www.prairiebluff.com/wilcox/chat/chatlog090700.html You can also find previous chat logs here: http://www.prairiebluff.com/wilcox/chat/chatlog081700.html http://www.prairiebluff.com/wilcox/chat/chatlog082400.html http://www.prairiebluff.com/wilcox/chat/chatlog083100.html If anyone has suggestions for a better way to log these chats, let me know. Please send your suggestions for future chats. I plan to host one for those researching their slave ancestors. I'd like for both the descendants of slaves and the descendants of slaveowners with information to share to participate. All genealogist have their brick walls but 1870 is is the highest and most impenetrable one for slave researchers. So if anyone with family bibles, plantation papers, family histories that mention slaves can help those looking for their enslaved families this would be great. Would anyone who'd like to participate in this kind of exchange please contact me so I can have an idea of how many (there's a physical limitation on the number of participants in the chat room), how to structure the chat so that it flows smoothly for the benefit of all, and who will host/co-host. Thanx, B.J. Smothers
