    3. My g-g-g-uncle, Chesley Gwin (aka Chess and Charley) m1. 22 Mar 1850 to Fannie Bell; m2. to the widow Blevins. Your Matilda Edgar Phillips (who married William Blevins) died in 1837, so SHE is not this Widow Blevins, but her daughter-in-law could've been, especially since her widower, William, died in Dallas Co. where he likely would've been staying with his son/daughter-in-law were he ill or incapacitated. Next is my paragraph on this g-g-g-uncle: 4.4--Chesley (aka Chess, Charley) Gwin; [Was his name Charles Chesley Gwin? Uncle James' records showed his name as Chesley (aka Chess), but Rev. Cotten's diary calls him Charley, who, in Cotten's 22 March 1850 entry, was "getting married tonight to Miss Bell at Bouge Chitto".] m1. 22 Mar 1850 at Bouge Chitto (I asked my dad, Adrian S. Gwin, where Bouge Chitto is, and he said he guessed it was somewhere on Bouge Chitto Creek, which his family had to cross every time they went from McDowell to Selma and back--he says it's pronounced BOH-guh CHIT-uh Creek) to Fannie Bell, many ch.; m2. Widow Blevins More at my page from which this paragraph comes: http://www.zianet.com/jmcdgwin/gwinwilliam.htm you wrote: >Subject: Re: [ALDALLAS-L] George Phillips,1915,Selma >Sent: 9/20/20 12:53 PM >Received: 9/20/00 4:36 PM >From: Irma Evans, ievans@hal-pc.org >To: ALDALLAS-L@rootsweb.com > >To Phillips Researchers: > >I would be interested in any information about a Matilda Edgar Phillips, b. >6/17/1801 in Mecklenburg Co., NC, died 1837 in Dallas County, AL.
