I am searching for any possible clue to this family: George Nelson Patterson b. in Selma, AL 1870. He had brothers Charles and Forrest who were still in Selma in 1930 and another brother, Capt. A.J. Patterson, who was at Fort Riley, Kansas in 1930. Thanks for any clues. Carol Davis Orange Park, Florida

I too am looking for information about the Pleasant Hill Academy. There must have been two because my grandfather, John Sparrow, wnt there in the mid l860s. His father was Dr. Patrick Sparrow, pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Cahaba, Dallas Co. If you get any informtion on this school, I would appreciate your sending it to me.
Hi, I am trying to locate information on J A Breazeale who lived at 208 Alabama St., Selma, with his mother Jennie Breazeale in 1905. J Breazeale was a foreman for the Southern Railroad and Jennie was a widow of AD Breazeale, former clerk or court and justice of the peace for both Cahawba Town and Selma. I already have all of AD Breazeale's information, but it's his son, Daniel Breazeale born 1852 Cahabwa Town Alabama, and wife Jennie Alexander Breazeale that I have no information on. Daniel and Jennie had two sons, John A Breazeale and Stephen Breazeale, my grandfather. Both were born in the Selma area around 1875 to 1880. I located JA Breazeale and Jennie his mother in the Selma 1905 City Directory and also a (Daisy) at 208 Alabama St. It list J A as being a foreman for the Southern Railroad. I would like to find out if there is any information in the 1880 or the 1900 census about this family. AD Breazeale had a brother, Daniel M. Breazeale, who fought with the Lewis Squadren CSA as Calvaryman and enlisted in Cahabwa in 1862. AD was a Captain in the Militia. I just mention that as to not confuse the two Daniel's. AD named his son Daniel after his brother. Is there any information about a J or JA Breazeale listed in any later census records?? He must've gone to school in Selma too. If need be I will come down to Selma myself to look but am hoping for help via this forum. JA is lost to us and we don't know whehter or not Jennie, my greatgrandmother, or him are buried in Selma or are lost forever. Thanks for any help.
Does anyone have any information concerning the Pleasant Hill Female Academy ? The school was operational during the late 1850s-early 1860s. Thanks ! Stephanie Stoermer

Ray, I don't show him listed with the 53rd. I do show a James B. Parker with the 2nd Cav. Co. K. If this is the same person, then it was not uncommon for one to serve in more than one unit. I would suggest trying to get his military records for confirmation. I also show a J. B. Parker listed with the 12th Inf. Co. C & with the 14th Inf. Co. K. For some interesting information about a particular unit, go to Ken Jones Web site at: http://www.tarleton.edu/~kjones/alregts.html. Click on the unit that your're interested in and will sometimes have the muster roll, flag, and info about the unit. From this page, ( If you have the name and the unit ), click on "Confederate Army Service Records (#512)". >From here, this will put you on their secured server and you can order after supplying the required information. FTM is a lot faster with returning your request but usually costs a liitle more. I would like for you to look up the family of Patrick Jones Sparrow who fled to Cahaba from Pensacola during the Civil War. Dr. Sparrow served as pastor of the Presbyterian Church until his death in l868. I am interested in what family you might find for him. The l860 census in Pensacola showed him with wife Mary, 2 sons and 2 daughters. The l870 census in Pensacola where his wife and son John returnd after his death shows only the son John.
All. Again will be glad to do Civil War look-ups for requests as I have the listings for the entire state of Alabama. Earlier I posted this info and really had a lot of requests. For the new people that have joined the list the invitation is open again. Good luck with your searches! Jim
