To the north is Carson City; Lyon County is to the east, and California is to the west and south. Douglas County includes the towns of Genoa, Minden, and Gardnerville (these three towns plus the surrounding land encompass Carson Valley). Carson Valley is one of Nevada's first settled areas and includes the state's first permanent settlement, Genoa. Since Douglas County was primarily a ranching community, the area was much less transient than those counties whose chief industry was mining. Many of the families found in these records still have descendants living on the same ranches and in the same towns that were inhabited by these early Nevadans more than 100 years ago. Carol, According to Ancestry.Com They have nothing in AL, but Georgia had three marriages: one in 1867, Coweta Co, GA Charles PATTERSON to Martha E POTTS, two Gilmer Co. GA, Charles PATTERSON to Minda R. KEY 1880, and three Terrell GA., Charles PATTERSON to Mary Ann SIMS There was also a Charles PATTERSON who filed homestead papers between 1862-1908 in Denver. Another Charles PATTERSON was on the 1890 Police Census from NY City. On the 1880 Clark Co., Indiana there were two others age 15, and one age 3. Good Luck Susie Bates Orlando, Florida
Charles, If your relatives were buried in Selma look at the cemetery lists for the date of burial. The date of death is usually in the preceeding week. If they died in Alabama, after 1909, look at the Alabama state death record on micro film, they should be listed by year of death then by surname then by given name. Happy Trails, peter.
For a good overview of How to get Death Certificates go to http://www.mindspring.com/~awillcut/deathcerts.htm What I do is with a $tipend and a return envelope, request the Death Index Pages for the year span in search of, with the Surname and Soundex code as the subject. From the WALLACE STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE, SPECIAL CONNECTION , HANCEVILLE, ALABAMA. (I'll typle you the Zip Code) Sharon/Connecticut
