Looking for ancestors of Robert Joseph Fowler b 1810 (?) in Liverpool, England m Martha Mahoney b 1815 (?) in Skibereen, Cork County, Ireland. Family story is they went to Canada before coming to Alabama. Their son, Robert Joseph Fowler b 1846 in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada, married Alabama Cornelia Cook b 1850(?) in Lowndes County, AL. Parents of Alabama Cornielia Cook were Francis Marion Cook and Ella Louise Mathias (alternate spelling Matthos- a Spaniard from Madrid, Spain via Florida). We have information he was involved in Selma city government around 1870- 1880, and would appreciate knowing sites online involving city council etc. He may have been at one time fire chief for City of Selma. Child of Robert Joseph Fowler and Alabama Cornelia Cook was Robert Joseph Fowler Jr., b 1875 in Selma, Dallas County, AL, d 1948 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, OK. He married Kate Myrtle Traylor. R.J. Fowler Jr. became a detective for the New York Central and Pierre Marquette railroads. The Fowler family was close friends with a Pettis family also from Selma. Would like information on all extended families-Cook, Fowler, Mathias, Matthos. Contact us at Llobeau73750@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Hello Everyone ! I have had to reword and rework the guidelines for the CENSUS-LOOKUP mailing lists and also include subscription instructions. I am sending these below. The lists have been growing like crazy since I created them three days ago and I expect the growth to continue as the word spreads. Please feel free to forward this to anyone you feel may be interested in joining. Of course the more people we have the more help we will be for each other. Please keep in mind that we are only a few days old and if your lookup request is not answered, try again in a week or two. Some of the state lists have already reached over 150 subscribers <G> Others have not been "advertised" as much and have fewer members. Hang in there and don't get discouraged if your not answered right away, these lists will be a great asset to our research after we reach the people and let them know that these lists are available. I am encouraging everyone to send this email to their surname and county mailing lists as well as to our cousins. Finally, If you have the material to help a fellow researcher, please use it. Thanks, Kelly Kellygirl3398@mpinet.net (Subscription information at the end of this e-mail) Guidelines for posting to the lists: Established 11 October 2000 EMAIL SUBJECT LINES: COUNTY,YEAR,SURNAME NO FLAMING or you will be unsubbed without notice. By this I mean not only being rude or mean to each other but there will be NO and I do mean NO debating here about the Census Projects. This list is for everyone who wants to research. NO General requests such as "all Smiths in all counties" Be specific, Name the County, Family you are looking for and also the year. Try to supply as much info as possible. LIMIT your requests to ONE PER CENSUS YEAR and SURNAME My Mama taught me that Thank you and Please are always nice too :) A few people have emailed me asking how to sign up for the new lists and what to do. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. All lists are XX-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L-request@rootsweb.com XX-CENSUS-LOOKUP-D-request@rootsweb.com The XX is to be removed and the two letter abbreviation for the state you are looking in added in its place. Examples: MI-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L-request@rootsweb.com CA-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L-request@rootsweb.com IL-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L-request@rootsweb.com 2. So, send an email to the one of your choice (make sure to have the state). Put NOTHING in the subject line. In the body of the email write only: subscribe Then send it on :) 3. POSTING to the new census lists: A. Send it to XX-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com (supply the two letter state code for the XX again) B: Subject line MUST have the following: County/Year/Surname Example: Saginaw/1850/Smith C: In the body of the email: List whom you are looking for. Supply as much information as you can. Birthplace, ages, occupation, etc. D: Mail it on! That's it folks :) I hope that helped. I have put the list of states and two letter codes below for you. AL Alabama AK Alaska AZ Arizona AR Arkansas CA California CO Colorado CT Connecticut DC District Of Columbia DE Delaware FL Florida GA Georgia HI Hawaii ID Idaho IL Illinois IN Indiana IA Iowa KS Kansas KY Kentucky LA Louisiana ME Maine MD Maryland MA Massachusetts MI Michigan MN Minnesota MS Mississippi MO Missouri MT Montana NE Nebraska NV Nevada NH New Hampshire NJ New Jersey NM New Mexico NY New York NC North Carolina ND North Dakota OH Ohio OK Oklahoma OR Oregon PA Pennsylvania RI Rhode Island SC South Carolina SD South Dakota TN Tennessee TX Texas UT Utah VT Vermont VA Virginia WA Washington (state) WV West Virginia WI Wisconsin WY Wyoming

Since we seem to be discussion PERRYs does anyone have any information on a PERRY and a WHITE family who moved to AL from SC in the early 1800's, to DALLAS or LOWNDES County. The PERRYS and WHITES were originally from North Carolina but ELIZABETH PERRY (B ca 1776 in Franklin County, North Carolina -d 1853 DALLAS CO, AL) and REUBEN WHITE (b 1870 in Anson County, NC d.1 June 1818 DALLAS CO, AL) REUBEN WHITE & ELIZABETH PERRY were married in 1798 in South Carolina. I don't know whether they lived there for very long or not. I have a lot of information on the family after REUBEN WHITE's death. The widow married the REV JAMES HOLLY. ELIZABETH PERRY and REUBEN WHITE are the people I am trying to find parents for....so I figured SOME of the PERRYS and/or WHITES from NC/SC might have emigrated to DALLAS COUNTY when they did. Does anyone have info on other WHITES and PERRYs in that age group? Thanks, Carole

In the book Reminiscences of Public Men in Alabama by William Garrett, p. 748 lists in 1820 from Dallas County one Horatio S. Perry. Then in 1829, 30 and 31 there is the name Horatio G. Perry. My gr gr grandfather, b. in Dallas County in 1830 was named Horatio Perry Harris. His father was Winford/Wintford Harris who d. circa 1833 leaving his widow Amanda Caroline Harris (I don't know her maiden name), their son Horatio and two sisters, Emily Caroline and Mary Elizabeth. I'm wondering if there could be any connection with my Horatio Perry Harris and the two Perry men listed in the book. Amanda and her children came to Texas by 1837. I also have a letter from a William H. Norris, p. 192 of the same book, written to my Horatio Perry Harris in 1852 and signed Your friend, truly Wm. H. Norris. Since I'm searching for Amanda's maiden name I thought I'd see if anyone recognizes any of these names. I also have no marriage date for Winford and Amanda but probably 1825. Amanda b. in GA 10 April 1810. Thanks for any information. Nancy (Nlamesa@aol.com)

RAND Family of Dallas County I am looking for information about the RAND family of Dallas County. My husband's middle name is Dallas, and it has come down in the family for several generations. The family came from Amelia Co, VA, before that from Wake County, NC. A search of the Wake County records indicates that some of the family may have moved to Dallas County. I would appreciate any information that might be available. Thanks.
