I know Simon H. West is in the Dallas County 1820 census and later moved to Marengo County where he bought land. Simon and his family later moved to Itawamba County, Mississippi.     3. The bodies of the Union soldiers that fell in Cahaba were disinterred shortly after the War and moved to the Federal Military Cemetery in Marietta, GA. As I live not too far from there, I would gladly look up the names of your soldier at the cemetery. I realize the query to the list in the last few days was probably for Confederate dead in Dallas County, but it made me think about those who died there, either in Fort Morgan or in fighting. Doak was the original patentee of the Northeast Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of Section 12, Township 23 North, Range 10 East, St. Stephens Meridian, containing 39.53 acres, in Bibb County, Alabama. The patent was issued on June 1, 1858. I'm looking for ANY information on Schinchingh M. Doak: a will, perhaps probated in Dallas or Bibb County; a copy of the deed where he sold this tract of land, perhaps naming his spouse; or any other information that would shed ANY light on Robert Doak and any of his ancestors and/or descendants.     3. Hello to the list, I am attempting to acquire some paternal family history. I have copies of land patents dated 8 Oct 1835, issued to James J. Russum,(my great grand father I think.) in Dallas Cty. Recorded in Cahaba. Also a patent to James Russum, assignee for one Alexander Watson recorded in Cahaba on 16 September, 1833. I haven't been able to pick up on these people after this date. Nor have I been able to find a trace of my grandfather,one J.D.Russum Sr. County coroner of Jefferson Cty.(Bermingham) circa 1939. I have checked marriage license, burial records etc to no avail. J.D. expired approx. 1946 in Birmingham. Anyone have any tips or guidance for sources? Thanks, George Russum

    3. My Quaker ancestor's, Bowater Jackson/Jennie Mace Jackson, left NC and were living in Dallas County, AL by 1826. Was there ever an attempt to start a Quaker community in Alabama, as there was earlier in Georgia? I found many names from the New Garden, NC MM there in or around Cahaba, AL. Mathews who was born 23 Sept 1851 and died 28 December 1856" MATHEWS, Thomas Meriwether - "Son of Joel E. and E. W.     3. I am researching the Saddlers of old Cahaba. The 1850 Alabama census list Elizabeth Saddler, the widow of William H. Saddler who had died 16 December 1844, three daughters, Nancy, Loucenda and Elizabeth and two sons William and Malachi. All of the children with the exception of Malachi were born in South Carolina. This would indicate that the Saddlers moved from South Carolina some times before 1838, because Malachi was born in Alabama 1838. Any information on this group of Saddlers or any of the other Saddlers listed in 1850 census Bogue Chitto, Dallas County, Alabama area will greatly appreciated.
