Sybil, There's been a lot of email traffic regarding the sudden disappearance of Lisa Franklin's site. Yours is the the first explanation I've seen of what happened. I hope the situation is temporary. In the meantime, though, and to prevent this type of thing from happening again, if those who submitted Dallas, Marengo or Wilcox County data to Tracking Your Roots would send me a copy I'll post it on my sites (so it's searchable there) and send a copy to the ALGenWeb archives. That way if any one site goes down or offline, the records will still be available. B.J. Looking for any information about my great-grandfather, Marion Henderson Day. He was the last bridge tender in Selma. Date of death is unknown, but believed to be in 1936 to 1938. He had at least one brother, T. J. Day (unknown full name) and lived in Dallas County most, if not all, of his life. Also, he had two children, Marion H. Day Jr. (my grandfather) and Bertha Day (Married name to follow later). I have been told that he was buried at Sister Springs Baptist Church in what I believe is known as Tyler, AL. (about 12 miles out of Selma toward Montgomery). I have been to the cemetery, but could not locate a marker. Any help will be appreciated. Send e-mail to garigues@microxl.com. Thanks Mike Garigues

Dear Dallas County researchers: I am going to Dallas County to do some of my own research. I have posted information on this list before, but I have been out of town a lot recently and am not sure who still needs help. I will take pictures at the Live Oak Cemetery for $1.00 per picture and will do other research, i.e. city directories, etc. If you just want a general idea of what is available there, I will try to find out for you - no charge. If you want me to spend some time, I can do that also. I only charge $10 per hour and will be bringing a helper with me. With two of us working on it, we should be able to do quite a bit of work for several people. Let me know as soon as possible. I know I have written several of you at your private e-mail address. I'm making plans now for my trip and what I need to look for. marydavis@prodigy.net ----Original Message----- From: Woody/Suzanne Coats <coats@localink4.com> To: ALDALLAS-L@rootsweb.com <ALDALLAS-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Thursday, November 18, 1999 2:11 PM Subject: [ALDALLAS-L] Russell McCord >Dear Belva, > >According to the cemetery listing of Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, Al >(Dallas Co.), >there is a listing for: > >McCORD, Russell, M.D.---June 5,1833 to January 8, 1885 >McCORD, Ann Eliza---April 4, 1834 to June 26, 1930 >(this person was buried right beside him, so it would be pretty safe to >assume she was his wife.) > >These are the only McCords listed for that cemetery. > >In the book,"Selma: Her Institutions and Her Men", there is a wirte-up >about HUGH FERGUSON and it mentions that the"..eldest of his daughters >was married on the 19th of October, 1858, to Dr. Russell McCord of >Columbia, SC". >There is more on Hugh Ferguson and who is wife was, etc if these people >from Brazil want the information.
