Looking for information on a Caldwell Family who lived in Orville, Alabma later moving to Prichard, Alabama. Father, George; wife Lucy; children, John Roosevelt, Daisey and stepdaughter Helen. John Roosevel attended Mobile County Training School in Mobile, graduated and attended Straight College in New Orleans. Daisey died in her early thirtys or late twentys in Mobile. She had no children. I think the family would have been in Orville prior to 1912. John was born on May 2, 1912.

ALEXANDER family Seeking information on Alexanders living in Dallas County in mid 1800's. Sample ALEXANDER and wife Abigail; James S. ALEXANDER and wife Eliza; Ulysses ALEXANDER. All were in 1850 census. Sample had probably been in Dallas County since 1840 or earlier. James S. was married to Eliza Russel in Dallas County in 1847. James S. moved west to Pontotoc County, MS by 1860. Sample had followed him to MS by 1870. The Abigail ALEXANDER who died in 1859 and is buried in Fulford Cemetery in Dallas County may be Sample's wife. Was Sample the father of James S.? What was their relationship to Ulysses? (Ulysses had a son named Sample.) Does anyone have a listing of graves in the Fulford Cemetery? Any more Alexanders there? Thanks for any guidance. Ann
fulford family and fulford cemetary are on dallas cy web sight showing detailed families info good luck, and let me know if you brought it up.whb
Ann: I have records on Alexanders who migrated to Dallas County Ala as early as 1819-1820, from Christian County, Kentucky, in a large migration of Armstrong-Woods-Read-Alexander-McGough families. In particular, an Abigail Alexander was married to Thomas Woods, Jr. They had a large family, Also, as I remember it, Alexanders were associated with the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church in northern Dallas County. If any of this sounds familiar or interesting, let me know, and I can send you some information. Bob Parrott, Knoxville TN
Looking for info on Catts family of Dallas county lived around Sardis and Pleasant Hill. Any info would be helpfull
DAYLE and GRACE, I am still searching for my Perry connection in NC of course. Have printed out the info on the book just in case this turns out to be my ELIZABETH PERRY's line(ca 1776-1853) Since I last placed a query about her and her husband REUBEN WHITE (ca1770-1817) and her second husband REV. HOLLEY from Dallas Co, AL. I have discovered one other bit of information. When REV. JAMES HOLLEY(Meth)(1774-1852)died in Dallas Co AL., he left a will dated July 8 1852. At the bottom of the will is this statement, "JAMES LEBAL PETTIGRUE, ROBERT PERRY, A.G. PERRY, A.J.PERRY, A.H. BUCHANNAN." Perhaps these were witnesses to the Rev. Holley's will. Do either of you know who these PERRYs and PETTIGRUES might be. Still searching, Carole Caroline Burnett Cook Reuben White & Elizabeth Perry (NC/SC>AL) David White & Jane Jowers Martha Caroline White & Joseph Hoskins Beasley Caroline White Beasley & James Murray Rudulph Frances Perry Rudulph & Eldridge Greenwood Norton Caroline Beasley Norton & Charles Archer Burnett Caroline Burnett & Boyce Wayne Cook
I am trying to gather information of my ancestors. My great-greatfather was name Walter Stephens. He was born in Selma, Ala. around June, 1859, and I think he died in Evergreen, Ala. March 1939. His parents were Caleb and Charlotte Stephens. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I am researching the OLIVER surname. Specifically, I am searching for the relatives of one THEODORICK OLIVER - he is my major brick wall. I do not know any information about his parents or siblings. He is listed as being born in 1799 in either Tennessee or Virginia. He is listed in the 1850 US Louisiana Census as being from Virginia and his children list him as being from either Virginia or Tennessee in the 1860, 1870 & 1880 US Census in both Louisiana and Texas. He died between 1852 - 6 January 1854, in (Natchitoches Parish), Louisiana. He first married ELIZABETH (BETSEY) MARTIN on 14 Feb. 1820 in (Dallas County), Alabama. She was born about 1800 - 1810 in Georgia. He had the following known children from this marriage: THOMAS OLIVER (b: abt. 1824 in Alabama), CLAIBORNE MARTIN OLIVER (b: abt. 1829 in Alabama), JAS. OLIVER (b: abt. 1833 in Alabama) and CORNELIA OLIVER (b: abt. 1837 in Alabama). He and his family were listed in the 1830 Census for (Perry County), Alabama - there were also two additional children listed whose names are unknown at this time. BETSEY MARTIN OLIVER apparently died in 1837. THEODORICK OLIVER married MRS. LUCY B. (HOLLOWAY) THOMAS on 18 Jan. 1838 in (Dallas County), Alabama. She was born June 1809 in South Carolina. He had the following known children from this marriage: THEODORICK HARRISON L. OLIVER (b: July 1840 in Alabama), HENRY HOLLOWAY OLIVER (b: 18 Jan. 1843 in Alabama), CHARLES EDWARD OLIVER (b: 14 June 1847 in Alabama), LUCY A. OLIVER (b: May 1850 in Louisiana), and ALBERT BAXTER OLIVER (b: 6 Jan. 1853 in Louisiana). Lucy also brought at least one son from her previous marriage: JOHN W. THOMAS. There may also be additional children, as Lucy stated in the 1900 US Census in Texas that she had 10 children, six of which were living. Living in close proximity, in (Perry County), Alabama, to THEODORICK OLIVER is the family of THOMAS M. OLIVER (b: 31 May 1796 in unknown location) and his wife LUCINDA UNKNOWN (b: abt. 1788 in South Carolina). THOMAS M. OLIVER was the son of WILLIAM OLIVER (b: abt. 1742 in unknown location). THOMAS M. OLIVER had the following known children: EMILY T. OLIVER (b: abt. 1817 in (Dickson County), Tennessee) and THOMAS A. J. OLIVER (b: 27 Nov. 1825 in Marion, (Perry County), Alabama). All of this family is buried in the Marion Cemetery, Marion, (Perry County), Alabama. There are also several other OLIVERS buried in this cemetery. One of the others is a MURRELL W. OLIVER (b: 1 July 1815 in (Dickson County), Tennessee). He is probably the oldest child of THOMAS M. OLIVER. Further, there is a THOMAS MURRELL, SR. (b: abt. 1747 in (Goochland County), Virginia; d: 1826 in (Dickson County), Tennessee). His paternal Grandmother was ELIZABETH OLIVER (b: abt. 1715 in (Surry County), Virginia). My questions are: (1) Is MURRELL W. OLIVER the child of THOMAS M. OLIVER? (2) Did MURRELL W. OLIVERS given name come from the MURRELL family due to a familial relationship? (3) What relation is THEODORICK OLIVER to the family of WILLIAM OLIVER/THOMAS M. OLIVER/MURRELL W. OLIVER? Any Information or suggestions would be appreciated. Lawrence E. I need as much information as possible about the children of Telitha Toole b. abt. 1776 and Nathaniel Waller (Maryland). I have seen information listing "Nathaniel, Thomas Flint, probably Charles R. and others." Was there also a David T. (Toole) Waller who married Sarah Ann Ricks in Autauga County in 1840? Sarah Waller who is listed in the Dallas Co. Census of 1850 and 1860 as HOH is my g grandmother. I am trying to determine her maiden name and the name of her husband. Her daughter Annetta Elizabeth married William F. McElroy and they had a son, my grandfather, named Nathaniel Waller McElroy. Thanks, Lyn Lucas
I am looking for information on the family of Lula Dee Chnace and Preston E. Parrish. Anyone with information about this family, I would appreciate your help. Thank you in advance.
Researching Pleasant Lee, my gr-grandfather, born around 1862. Married to Lula Richard Bowles, they raised a family in Montgomery, Al. They had four children, Robert Earl Lee, Claude Lee, Ada Lee, and my grandmother, Bessie Gertrude Lee, born 12-25-1893. Trying to find out who his parents were, where he was born. I found a Pleasant Lee listed in the 1840 Dallas Co. Census, thought there may be a connection. If anyone has any information on the Lee's, I would love to hear from you. Thanks, Susan
Happy New Year from the Powers Family in Illinois. Gary, Juanetta, and Kenny Powers
There was an old Brantley Cemetery on property onced owned by Laban Rasco, south of Marion Junction. Apparently the old cemetery was never fenced or else the fence was torn down many years ago. All of the head stones are broken into pieces and are scattered in a pasture in section 26 or 25 Twp 17-N, Range 8-east or just east of the old Union Grove Church site. I assume over the past 150 years the cattle have broken all these old tombstones. I have visited the site a couple of times. I was told years ago that the remains of the Brantleys were removed and taken back to Tennessee or Kentucky but I don't know if this is a fact or not. I do not know who the current owner of the property is and I do not live in Alabama. James R. Rasco
I am searching for any information on Gen John Brantley (and the Brantley family) of Selma. Also his son in law Elisha Willis Lott, who came to reside in Selma with his wife Elizabeth (Betty) Victoria Brantley Lott. John Brantley appears in the 1820 Census and I believe E. W. Lott came to Selma in the 1850s. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I can be reached at lottrjr@aol.com.
