What sources does the author cite in support of the fact that the maiden name of James Meador's wife Susannah was Jordan, and she was sister of Reuben? Yes the name Reuben Jordan turns up in some Meador records, but the following are just a few of the references I could cite in support for the fact that Susannah Meador's maiden name was Morris and she m. (1) Archelaus Elmore, and subsequently James Meador. 02 Nov 1755 Marriage Bond Pr. Edward cty., VA John Morris gave consent for his daughter to marry Archelaus Elmore (they were married on 15 Nov; Archelaus was "dis[owned for] m[arrying] o[ut of] u[nity] by the Society of Friends on 11 Dec 1756 [ref Hinshaw's Quaker Records, VA] Jul 1756 Susannah Elmore Administratrix of Archilus Elmore Plaintiff v. agt John Brown Def. for L235 tobacco, judgment for plaintiff [Pr. Order Book 13, p.308] (The Elmore children also had a sister Ann, already married to Edmund Craddock. Thomas Elmore described her as his sister in a deed of trust on 27 Oct 1791, Amelia VA, Deed bk. 19, p.128) Clark v. Saxon [Laurens Co. Equity Court records, Box 15, package 12] proves that Ann (Elmore) Craddock m. (2)James Saxon. Will of Susannah Meador [Laurens cty., SC probate records Box 49, package 8] names daughter Ann Saxon. Ann is the only one of her Elmore children named in will, but there are other records I can cite proving she was the mother of John Archer, Judith, et al., Elmore. Wilson and his son (my gggrandfather) E. M.Wilson. Here it is: Dallas County, Page 79, Pence's Beat Line 6 E.M. Wilson 1 slave, age 33, male, black 1 slave, age 9,male, black Line 8 N. B. Wilson 1 slave, age 26, female, black 1 slave, age 10, female, mulatto 1 slave, age 6, female, black 1 slave, age 2, female, mulatto I hope this helps someone, because I certainly am not proud of it and hesitated to make a copy of it. 3. There's a Liberty Cemetery on County Rd. #2 from Orrville to Cahaba. The cemetery is located down a dirt rd. shortly off county Rd. #2. From the map, it looks like the 3rd dirt road to the right from Orrville to Cahaba. The cemetery matches the GPS reading. In travelling down this dirt rd, another dirt rd will be to the right--keep on straight til you reach a fork, bear to the left and the cemetery will be a short distance on this road. 3. Virginia Per the cemetery coordinates http://www.prairiebluff.com/algenweb/dallas/dalcem.htm list that Jim Crocker put together for the Dallas County website, Liberty is located at: Liberty Cemetery 321606N 0871054W Can't find my Dallas County DOT map to tell you exactly where that is but it's definitely in the southern part of the county. For the record, you can find any contemporary or historical place by using the Geographic Names Information System (GNIS): http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/ B.J. 2. Jim, I see the one your talking about. That put it in the southwest quarter of section 16, township 15 north and range 9 east. There appears to be another cemetery on the left side of this dirt road just a few yard down the road from the one you say is Liberty. Looks like their calling that part of the county White Bluff just slightly south and west of the Calhoun Bend of the Alabama River. James R. Rasco
