    1. [ALDALLAS-L] AVANT - LEOPARD - O'NEAL
    2. CCSMITH
    3. AVANT - LEOPARD - O'NEAL The main surname line I am researching is AVANT. Francis AVANT's widow was Elizabeth. She was Elizabeth CASE (dtr of John CASE and Lucy THOMAS). She remarried a LEOPARD ca. 1828 in Dallas County after Francis Avant's death. The AVANT children from her first marriage were: Catherine M. Avant who married David D. DUMAS; Mary Avant who married James DOWNES; Nancy Ann Avant (sometimes shown as Mary or Ann) married John G. O'NEAL; Lucy T. Avant who married William Hall; Nathan T. Avant who married Theodocia Wilson (from Perry County); John C. Avant who married Nancy MEREDITH. I am hoping to learn additional information about the LEOPARD line that Elizabeth AVANT married into as a widow. Two sons were born to the Leopard union, William and Charles LEOPARD ca. 1828-1831. John G. O'Neal was at one time the guardian of the 3 youngest Avant children and a landowner outside of Selma in the late 1840's. Looking for information regarding the O'NEAL line affiliated by his marrige to Nancy Ann AVANT. I am also trying to discover any additional information about the AVANT children who grew up in Dallas County possibly near Selma. Any information related to this query would be most appreciated. Thanks Carol C. Smith ccsmith@hovac.com

    2. I spent my summers in Burnsville in the 1930's and recall the cemetery being across the Southern railroad tracks very near the depot in Bursville. The gate would have been about opposite the Shiloh Baptist Church which is still there. I have not been in the cemetery in many years. I do not recall another one in the vicinity. 2. If you go to the following site, you will probably be able to find the cemetery. This is one site I used to find Liberty cemetery. Go to: http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html enter the name of the cemetery and the location and it'll probably give you coordinates. You can then go to http://www.terraserver.com/ and enter Dallas county, Alabama and a map will be online. You can enter the coordinates from the previous sites and then it will show you a map with the cemetery located. Good luck. Larry Covert Mobile
