    1. Youngs and other families in Cullman County
    2. I'm very intrigued by the recent postings concerning the Young family in what is now Cullman County especially those in Jones Chapel. Several of my families have connections in Jones Chapel. My second cousin, Barbara Handley, told me that our ancestor, James Clark Lewis, sold land to a church in Jones Chapel. I wrote the church some years ago requesting information but I never received a reply. Time permiitting, I will see what I can find out about the Youngs in Cullman County. I don't believe that we are descended from the German Young (Jung) family because I believe the Germans came later after our families were established in Cullman County. So I think I can rule out those families as being in our lines. But I'm very interested in the other, earlier Young families - no matter where they came from. Our family story is that they were originally Scots and they came from South Carolina. I have been in touch with James Young in the past. I'm not sure if I have his current email. He descends from Levi Young who came from New Jersey during the Revolutionary War, settled in South Carolina after the war and raised his family there. Some of his siblings may also have settled there. Levi's lines eventually made their way west mostly ending up in Blount and Etowah counties in Alabama. James Young and I have tried in the past to find a connection between our Young families. So far, no luck. Barry Jernigan Murfreesboro, TN
