I apologize for this error. Washington is not a middle name in the Handleys associated with our Youngs. Washington is a middle name in the Coley family associated with our Youngs. My grandmother had only two living siblings (or that she regarded as full siblings) - Gertrude (really only a half-sister - same mother/different father - but she was adopted) and Geneva (full sibling - same mother and father). Gertrude married Rufus Coley whose father's middle name was Washington. Geneva married Luther "Luke" Handley whose parents' names are unknown to me. I only know of both families in Jefferson County, Alabama. I haven't researched either of them anywhere else. I don't know their origins. Barbara Handley was the only one in the family doing any research (as far as I am aware). She died of cancer a few years back. I asked about her research notes but have never received a reply. Hopefully the family preserved them all. She put alot of work into the project. I think one of her sisters had been helping her but I don't know if she is actively researching now. I do know that Barbara had alot of Handley photos and other notes that had no connection with the Young family. But I don't recall if she mentioned the family's origins. I only have Barbara's report, "Descendants of Wesley Young" and that shows the descendants of Luther "Luke" Handley and Geneva Young and no further back than them in the Handley family. Time permitting I will see if I can find a connection to all of this - if there is one. Now I have Morgan County to add to the research area as well? ;-) How the plot thickens. lol Good luck to all in their research Barry Jernigan Murfreesboro, TN PS My grandmother also had four other half-siblings - a brother and three sisters (same father/different mother).
