    3. Thank you, Barry! The Spain Family is my husband's mother's side (as well as Orr/Ore, etc.). My husband was adopted into the Tate family out of Rockingham County, NC which constitutes the Tate side of my marriage, however, I do have another Tate side on my maiden name (King) side out of Sequatchie County, TN. So far, I've not been able to connect the two lines but am working on it. The King family is out of the Sequatchie County, TN area (and surrounding counties) by way of NC in the early 1800's. Mama King was a Cooley prior to marrying my grandfather, Robert Lee. We have rumors that her mother was Lucy Caroline Hoge/Hogue, etc but no documentation. The Yarbrough family is my step-father's family (my wonderful dad!) and very little is known about them. It's rumored there is a "historian" on the Yarbrough side but, so far, I've not been given a name or contact info on him/her to compare notes. Mom and dad currently live in Marshall county. The Cox/Foster line are my maternal grandparents out of Madison and Limestone Counties as well as parts of TN. Very little is known about them except for 1st cousins who inhabit the wilds of Madison, Hazel Green, Lacey's Spring and Huntsville. A distant uncle, J.B. Webb who has long passed, was highlighted in a Huntsville publication about early living in Huntsville (I forget the name of the periodical) and was reported to have had the 1st drive-thru liquor store in Huntsville running out of his kitchen. We have a lot of USA-type characters in our family, for sure. So far, I'm the only renegade to inhabit Georgia except for a 1st cousin whom I never see or hear from. Given my druthers, I'd rather be in a tropical isle somewhere with a nice cool drink and no worries but the lottery hasn't blessed my house as yet. Well, enough chatter about moi. :) Lynita "Stubby" Tate Marietta, GA FINCH64@aol.com wrote: In a message dated 4/20/2007 10:09:42 AM Central Standard Time, stubbytate@yahoo.com writes: > Absolutely wonderful information! I didn't use them but I would say that you could search on them -- for instance on Ancestry.com. The librarians were very helpful. I believe I might have seen a family history book in the genealogy room that had the surname Spain in the title, BTW. We have tentative connections to Yarbrough as well in Cullman Co -- a collateral line's second wife. His first wife was a Young. Also quite a lot of Georgia reference books there -- census indexes, birth indexes, will indexes, death indexes, county histories, etc. Barry Jernigan ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SOUTHEAST-PIONEERS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message Stubby Tate Marietta, GA Fund Raising Specialist http://knowledgeonline.youravon.com/content/external/intro/wrapper.htm --------------------------------- Ahhh...imagining that irresistible "new car" smell?
