>From Cullman County, Alabama, Cemeteries -- Volume 3 -- pp. 166 - 183 Jones Chapel Cemetery, Township 9 South, Range 5 West, Section 34 Surveyed 6 Mar 2005 No Moores in the listing for the cemetery. Young, D. H., 13 Mar 1814 - 7 Mar 1878, [hand carved sandstone monument; Daniel H. Young, born in Davidson County, Tennessee; 1867 Winston County Voter Registration List] <== my ggg-grandfather Young, Infant, of W. W. Young, M.D., [hand carved sandstone monument; no dates recorded] Young, Mary E., 16 Nov 1864 - 20 Dec 1905 <== Mary Elizabeth Lee Young, first wife to my great-grandfather, Adolphus Ervin Young. His second wife, Mary Ellen Lewis was my great-grandmother. She is buried next to her parents, James Clark Lewis and Mary Jane Lovell, just up the road a short ways from Jones Chapel Cemetery at Vance Cemetery. Young, W. M., son of W. W. Young, M.D., [hand carved sandstone monument; no dates recorded] Also in Jones Chapel Cemetery are my ggg-grandparents the parents of my gg-grandmother, Mary Jane Lovell Lewis: Elijah Lovell, 4 Mar 1833 - 10 Jul 1895; Masonic emblem, [buried next to Mary A. Lovell] Mary A. Lovell, wife of E. Lovell, 28 Sep 1833 - 25 Mar 1899 I visited the cemetery a week or so ago and found the Young stones but didn't see my Lovell ancestors' stones. I'll have to look for them on a return visit in the future. I didn't notice that about the Masonic emblem on the stone. That should make it easier to find now that I know that. Our Jernigans were Freemasons as well and my gg-grandfather, James Silas Jernigan, has a beautiful Masonic emblem on his obelisk-shaped stone at Marvin's Chapel Cemetery in Pinson. It also has a perfect pyramid on top of it. Not sure of the symbolism inherent in any of that. Perhaps a symbol of everlasting life? As in the Egyptians use of pyramids? At any rate, it is a beautiful stone. The Youngs were long time residents of Jones Chapel. The Lovells and Lewises came from Georgia after the Civil War. Most of the Young, Lovell and Lewis research was done by my second cousin, Barbara Handley, who has since sadly passed away from cancer. She lived in Birmingham area her whole life. I have most of her research which she gave to all of the families some years ago. Barry Jernigan Murfreesboro, TN ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
