    1. [ALCULLMA] Skeleton on Crooked Creek, 1893
    2. The Alabama Tribune, 16 Feb 1893 Skeleton Found. The bones of a man supposed to have been murdered several years ago was found on the 5th of this month hid under a cliff of rocks, on Crooked Creek in what is called the "narrows" about three miles from Crane Hill in this county. The discovery was made by some boys while strolling along the creek bank, they, not begin able to decide whether they were human bones or not, they returned and gave the information to their parents, who at once repaired to the place and found the skeleton of a man lying among some charred cedar chunks covered by two flat rocks placed over it in the shape of a roof. The skull was found to be cracked and some of the leg bones were burned in two. Nothing was found however to reveal his identify. The bones were placed in a box and are now at the residence of Mr. Noah Burgett. Several years ago a man by the name of Knight who taught school in that neighborhood mysteriously disappeared and blood stains can yet be seen on the door facing and floor of the house where he boarded, and this circumstance may afford some clue to the tragedy.
