To Del and Carol, I wonder if the bad tornado that hit Hanceville, ca 1900 I think, could have killed some of your folks? Just a thought. I found a B. A. Smith in the old deaths of Cullman County. He died on 9 May 1907, he was born in GA, a farmer, 55 yrs., old married, buried at Hopewell, and he died from "hematemesis-hematuria". I typed this at it was written. All of the deaths where he was listed were all handwritten. There are old ledgers that list deaths from 1886. These are the earliest deaths listed in Cullman County. Hope this helps.
