    3. This is part of John Rufus first marriage that was to Elizabeth Jane Smith, with the exception of the daughter shown as Emma-these are the parents of Rasmus. My maternal grandmother, Willie Aretta Sanford was of his second marriage which was to Jerusha Emma Strickland, March 1, 1874 in Fayette County, Alabama. My grandmother, who was the oldest known child of the second marriage was erroneously listed in the 1880 census as Emma. John Rufus had ten children in the first marriage and five children in the second marriage. My two maternal great grandmothers were sisters which made my grandparents first cousins. However, as the tale was told down through the years, they allegedly didn't know they were first cousins until after the marriage. my maternal grandfather, William Ganaway Clifton was born in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, while my grandmother was born in Fayette County, Alabama. John Rufus, both of my maternal great grandmothers, my maternal grandparents and many others of the Sanford and related sides of the family are buried at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Fayette County, Alabama.     3. Thank You. I didn't have the complete death date. Now if I could just learn about Mollie Maybell and some of the rest of Rasmus' family that I don't have. As I learn where one has settled, I try seeking them at their last known location. I have been privileged to be able to communicate with three of the immediate relatives; however, neither claims to have knowledge of any of the others except their respective names or part of their names. Rasmus was a half-brother to my maternal grandmother, Willie Aretta Sanford Clifton. Their father was John Rufus Sanford of Fayette County, Alabama.     3. The mother of Jimmy Ryan, Mollie Maybelle Sanford Ryan was born about 1903. The grandfather of Jimmy Ryan, Rasmus W. Sanford was born September 1871 in Fayette County, Alabama and the grandmother, Cordelia D. Russell was born January 1876 in Alabama. Both grandparents died about 1954. I have no dates on the others.     3. I am trying to locate a Jimmy Ryan or the family of a Jimmy Ryan, whose father was a Doctor Ryan and mother was Mollie Maybelle Sanford. Maternal grandparents were Rasmus W. Sanford, born in Fayette County, Alabama and Cordelia D. Russell. I am compiling family history on our mutual Sanford families.
