I have a KING who married a SANDLIN and they are buried in the Sandlin cemetery on Hwy. 69 in Cullman Co.
Here is another one just in case. SK
Liz, Can't remember, but it seems like you are kin to Elliott's also. Would this one be related. SK

hello. Would be so nice if we could find a connection. I have no clue as to the siblings or parents of my James J. Elliott. He has been a brick wall for me. Wish I had more info. to share. I have been unable to find my Jack or james Elliott on previous censuses in parent counties of Cullman and in immediate proximity, so he could very well fit in with your Elliott family. The fact that his wife was born in AL in 1842 and all his children were born in AL in the 1870's would indicate that he was here at least by sometime in the 1870's though. He was born 1833 according to the 1880 Cullman Co. census in GA. Thanks again. Karla P.S. By the way I believe we might have corresponded briefly before. My email is [email protected] if you want to respond there.
Sorry, My Murphy family is John Hailes Murphy, son of Robert Neils Murphy, Son of John Murphy. My Grandmother, Agatha Christina Murphy Persall was the daughter of John H. she was born in MS but the Murhpy Family settled around Cullman. Inga
Hi, My Elliott connections settled in the Cullman, Blount area around 1880 also. Nathaniel ELLIOTT, b. 1822 GA; married, 1846 GA, Permelea BARTON, b. 1825 GA. Andrew ELLIOTT, b. 1822 GA (twin to Nathaniel); married Elizabeth BARTON, b. 1832 GA (sister to Permelia). I am searching for other siblings of Nathaniel & Andrew ELLIOTT, would they happen to be brothers to your James J. ELLIOTT? I have lot of info to share on these two lines. Any help would be most appreciated......Diane ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, February 26, 2001 7:10 AM Subject: Re: [ALCULLMA] Re: Elliott, Murphy, Moore and Chandlers in Walker/Cullman Cos. > P.S. hello again. I was really interested in your Sloan connections. I knew some Sandlins who lived in the Welti area. Areyou related to those? thanks, Karla
My Murphys should have been in AL early, as Mary Ann Murphy was b. 1842 in AL, probably either Blount or Walker Co. as Cullman wasn't formed until late 1870's. Thanks for any info. on related Murphys. Karla
P.S. Mary Ann Murphy Elliott was listed on 1880 Cullman Co. Census with husband, James J. Elliott, b. 1833 GA and children.
I am looking for Murphys who resided in either Hanceville or Southern Cullman Co. and later in Beech Grove area of Walker Co. near Dodge City. My gggm was Mary Ann Murphy, b. 1842 AL. I want to find her connections. Thanks so much. Karla

What Murphy's are you looking for.My husband had a Great-Uncle Dale Murphy that lived in the Cumman Co.are but this Murphy famly didn't come to l.untill about 1903.
my relation to the Sandlins is through Dicey Sandlin, who married my gr uncle, Pernell Rhodes, of the Empire/Warrior, AL area. Pernell is my grandmother Alta's brother.
Mark, The Cullman Tribune might have an article. Years ago a Cullman Tribune writer would interview newspaper subscribers and publish the interviews. This newspaper also has articles about the war (The War Between the States). This newspaper also reprints past articles from time to time. That is where I saw an article of my grandmother and my great uncle. This newspaper is a weekly and is more geared to history, family articles and such than the local daily newspaper. Does this help?
Hi everyone. I would appreciate any info. on the Elliotts, Murphys of Southern Cullman Co., Andrew Moore of Jones Chapel area or Hiram Joseph Moore his son. These Moores resided Cullman Co. at least 1880's thru 1920. Thanks, Karla
I am also researching Sloans, some of whose descendants wound up in Cullman and Walker Cos. in AL. My Sloans came out of GA to Calhoun Co., AL to Frost, Tx and back to settle in Rienzi, MS (Alcorn Co.) This MS family had sons, daughters, and grandchildren who resettled in Cullman, Walker and Jefferson Cos. Some are buried in Hanceville, AL. thanks, Karla
Cindy, reading Margaret's message reminded me of a long ago friend, named Atlee Sandlin, when I was about 4 years old he gave me a little red truck, which I still have. I seem to recall he died as a teenager. any relation? Thanks Lois
Hi, Just renewing my query once again. I'm researching BOATRIGHT, FORTNER, HENDRIX, RHODES, SOUTH, DEVAULT, SANDLIN, SLOAN and all related families. My areas begin with Blount, Walker, Cullman, Jefferson, Morgan counties, which is where most of my immediate family (including myself) are from & extends to Florida (where I live now), Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky & Virginia. Will gladly exchange info on all families. Thank you. Also, I'm interested in any old obituaries from Alabama (all areas) that anyone would care to send me. They will be posted to a volunteer-based site on the web for all to see. Thank you & Happy hunting. Cindy Boatright
