    2. Shirley, Where was he living when he died? (area of Cullman Co) He may have been taken to a place that he lived earlier for burial. Also if he lived in the area where Smith lake is now....well....Good luck!!!!!!!!!! Also remember about my GrGrGrandma Ward? You helped me find her, she was buried at the first location of Liberty Baptist Church, now days the people doing the surveys on cemeteries don't have that info so she is never mentioned in the new cemetery surveys. Check out the areas he lived and see if any of the churches moved. Inga

    3. THANKS FOR THE TIPS. HE was born and raised here and was a cook someplace in Cullman County. I have written to his son but lord knows if I will even hear back from him. He lives in Michigan. Have called on of Jacks cousins to see if he knows anything but he has not called me back yet. Is this not a fun hobby. Sure gets frustrating sometimes. We are going to Arkansas in June to a Whitfield family reunion in Benton. Am really looking forward to that one as we will get to meet face to face with some of the ones that I have met on the internet. Isn't that neat. Okay again thanks for the tips . Hope that all is well in your Decatur neighborhood. Met a man called Jack that says he lives in your neighborhood in Hanceville. He was down a Jacks cousins store the other day having lunch there. 2. John Paul Myrick
    3. Lynne, Karla, etc. etc. I think we do have the Hinkle book, but I don't think it would show up in the online catalog. We're in the process of re-cataloging everything in the Special Collections Department. Its a slow and tedious process, but I expect that we will be through in about another two years (we've been working on it for about six years now). You could check with Max Hand, Assistant County Librarian, to make sure we have it. By the way, while we're on family histories, the public library gladly accepts donations of printed family histories. Sorry for the shameless plug. I was walking through the Good Hope Cemetery yesterday and noticed so many Hinkles. 2. I am researching the Turners of Cullman Co., But I don't have much information. My grandmother was Martha (Mattie) Caroline Turner born 5-18- 1884 ? She married Oscar Clayton, Dec 22 - 1901. I believe they lived around the Fairview area. I know some were buried in the Fairview East Cen. She had sisters Mary and Cora. For Brothers she had Dave, Jim, and Aran. I have been trying to find more info on the family, but haven't gotten much. I would love to hear from anyone who has any information. Morris Clayton

    2. Karla and others ! There is a Family History book at Wallace State on the 6th floor with Family Histories Titled " Hinkle, Sims , Fuller, McPherson , & Allied Family - History" call number Arc.CS71.H564 C52 complied and written by Doss Arrie Dolphus Chander. Has LOTS of family sheets with some sources. (about 100 pages) I haven't checked the Cullman Public Library to see if they have a copy, but you could check their on line catalog. Has been a great help to me as a reference for researching these families ! Hope this helps ! 1. [ALCULLMA] Sims and Fullers in Alabama
    2. Sims researchers ... I am writing most of this from memory, please correct me as to places in Alabama or anything else if I am wrong. Joel Sims moved to Lincoln Co, Tenn around 1812 from Laurens Co., SC. He had married Eliz. McGlathery of Laurens Co. Her father was David McGlathery, a namesake for her brother. Her Mother was Honora, whom some researchers believe was Honora Yeager because of the numerous McGlathery Yeager ties that continue from SC into Tenn and Alabama. Joel Sims' father was Zachariah Sims born about 1755 in Culpeper Co., Va. whose father was Thomas Sims, Sr. born 1702 of Culepeper Co. Zachariah Sims was married to Eliz. Graves whose lineage descends from Capt. Thomas Graves who was a Jamestown Settler in 16508. The lineage of Thomas Sims Sr. is well documented on several Sims web sites. Several persons are members of the DAR/SAR on the Rev War records of Zachariah Sims - militia and Thomas Sims - provision of goods and services in Virginia. Zachariah Sims died in 1789 in Laurens Co. His wife remarried Jonathan Creecy , a doctor. Joel Sims was one of at least six children, based on division of property records on the death of Dr. Creecy. Joel Sims died in Morgan Co. in 1827 and his widow in 1830 married Wm. Hodges, a blacksmith and neighbor. It appears to be a man, aged 73, marrying a young widow in her 40's. Wm. Hodges was the father of Jane Hodges Fuller who moved from Greenville, SC around 1835 next door (in Somerville) to her father. She and Jonathan who died about that time had numerous children. Jane Hodges Fuller is found on census records in Blount Co. living near her sons. The first child of Joel Sims and Eliz. Graves Sims was Elizabeth Sims born circa 1810 who is believed to have married John Black, a blacksmith and to have lived in the Lacy's Springs area of Morgan Co. Samuel McGlathery (or Yeager) ws born in Tenn and married Jane Fuller in 1835. I am not sure whether Jane Fuller died shortly thereafter or if she lived a long life in Alabama. He may have remarried. This was the second marriage of a Sims into the Fuller family. Valentine Earl Sims born in Tenn died 1886. He married Elizabeth Young whose grandfather was Wm. Young, a blacksmith who traveled from Va. with Wm. Hodges who was the grandfather of Jane "Ginny" Hodges who married Jonathan Fuller (grandfather of Sutton Fuller). David McGlathery Sims (my lineage) born Oct 22, 1816 probably in Lincoln Co., Tenn married Nancy Fuller, born 1817, on the 2nd Day of January 1834. They eloped to be married. This was the first Fuller - Sims marriage. David Sims moved to Mississippi and became a Baptist minister. He died in 1890. Nancy Fuller lived past 1906 and is thought to be buried in an unmarked grave. Obituaries for her son Jonathan born 1835 in Morgan Co. mentioned that he was survived by an "aged Mother." Robert Lowery Sims was born Apr 22, 1821 in Tenn and died 1861. He is said to be buried in Hopewell Cemeter (in Alabama?) He is said to have married Catherine Hawkins in Tenn. Augustine or Augustus Yeager Sims was born 1824 and married Elviraa Jane McPherson and lived in Blount Co. John Daniel Sims, known as Capt. Jack because of his occupation as a riverboat captain, was born 1825 and married Sarah McPherson, and resided in Blount Co. He is said to be buried in Hopewell Baptist Church. Minerva Yancy Sims was born 1826 and married Fleming Fuller, son of Jane Hodges Fuller and Jonathan Fuller, and died in 1905. She is said to be buried in Hopewell Baptist Church.
