    2. Ruby thanks so much for your kind offer. I might take you up on it sometime. My mother lives in Hanceville and I do get over that way occasionally. My Jack Elliott was b. 1833 according to the info. on the 1880 Cullman census. He died in June of 1898 according to his wife's account on the Civil War pension record. Thanks again for the info. Karla

    3. Ruby, I don't have a George Harris in my tree. My great-grandfather was Benjamin Alexander Harris who married Anna Jane Curry on October 12, 1889 in Cullman Co. They are both buried at Beech Grove. Benjamin's parents were Henry Pleasant Harris and Mary Ann Loveless. 3. Karla You go to 299 exit off of 69 highway and go southwest about a mile. You will pass Beach Grove Church and then a small flea market on the left. Go about another half mile and you will see a hill. Turn left and it is up that road. The county garbage dump use to be close to the old cemetery. A hunting club has this area rentented if I am not mistaken. I would be glad to meet you at Dodge City some evening and show you where it is. Do you have a birth and death date for James Jack Elliott? We have the Ala. death index at Wallace Library from 1908 through 1959. And We have death certificates through 1972. I would be glad to look for a certificate for you if he died in this time period. I am interested in finding who is buried in these unmarked graves in this area. I live at Bug Tussle. 2. Oh, the ones at Johnson Grove. You asked how many I think, without rereading your note. The directions on the Cullman List to Johnson Grove. There is a little mountain road that will come out in this Jasper exit without having to go all the way to Cullman and back down. I will get the exact location for that little road. It is curvy, but will save a lot of time. My husband's twin sister lives off of that section of hwy 69. Karen

According to an elderly cousin, Frank Kilgo, my gggf James Jack Elliott is buried there with no marker. I am curious to find out more about this cemetery. Does the fact that he was buried there mean he was a miner? Thanks. Karla

    1. Re: [ALCULLMA] DIRECTIONS
    2. John Paul Myrick
    3. Karen, The best way I could tell you is to go back to the Interstate. From Hopewell, go back to U. S. Hwy 31 and head south. At the Intersection of Alabama Highway 91 in downtown Hanceville, turn right towards Colony/Arkadelphia. Take AL Hwy 91 all the way back to I-65. At I-65, head north towards Cullman/Decatur. At the next exit (Jasper/Dodge City), get off the freeway and turn left towards Jasper at the end of the ramp. This will put you on Alabama Hwy 69. Take AL Hwy. 69 down to County Road 222 (its along way). Turn right onto County Rd. 222. Go several miles until you get to Brushy Pond and Ryan's Creek Baptist Church. There is a road there in front of the church off to the right, number unknown. Turn right onto this road and Johnson's Grove is about 1 block on the left. There are ways cross-country but I am afraid you would get lost. I would budget 45 minutes for this trip. Hope this helps!
