    2. Just wanted to let those interested know about the upcoming Waters family reunion. This is for the descendants of John Robert and Martha Ellen (Cash) Waters. The reunion will be held on Sunday July 29 2001 at the Lawrence Co AL Veteran's Park(near East Lawrence Schools). The meal will begin at approximately 1pm. Those interested, please email me for directions to the park. A covered dish would be welcomed. Also bring any genealogical research items.     3. The Southern Democrat Oneonta, Alabama Thursday, Oct. 21, 1926 Rev. Rasco Dead Rev. T.J. Rasco, brother of D.C. Rasco, on Oneonta, died at his home in Cullman county, on Wednesday of last week. Bro. Rasco was about 60 years of age and had been a minister in the C.P. Church for many years. He was known to many people in this county where he had assisted in revivals and other meetings. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. T.B. Nation, assisted by Revs. Walton and Buck, of Birmingham. The Masons also had a part in the funeral services. Mr. and Mrs. D.C. Rasco, of Oneonta, attended the funeral at Mt. Pisgah Thursday.

As far as overseers, I would assume the best ways to locate information about overseers would be to locate records from the plantations (of which few to none are likely available except in rare instances) and to check the census data. I would expect that overseers would live on the property of or nearby to the plantation owner. The agricultural census data would likely give you more information would likely give you more information about the farms in that area, what life on those farms was like, etc. I would also recommend you touch base with Bob Davis -- I am forwarding this to him as well.
