My ancestress, Elender Gorum m. John GIPSON. Elender died at the time of childbirth, her second child, my gggrandfather, Harvey Anderson 'Jack' Gipson. (*I also have more information On John Gipson and descendants to share). Elender had a brother, Horrie Gorum/H.R. Gorum who was a Pvt. in Co. 'K' , 5th AL Infantry. He Enlisted on 10 SEP 1862 in Butler Co., AL. He was captured in battle on May 5th, 1863 and signed a Parole on May 4, 1863. He was listed as a patient on the Hospital Muster Roll in the Convalescent Division at the General Hospital, Howard's Grove, Richmond, VA APL-JUN 1864. He is described on the Oath of Allegiance as having dark hair and blue eyes, dark complectioned, and 5' 7 1/2" tall.
