I do apologize for the late reply back, but my computer contracted a boot virus and it has taken me this long to get it back from the shop! But, it is better than before and I am back online once again! This is definately the same family. My information is along the same lines as another lady posted ( I am sorry I forget her name at this moment. I am bad with names, but I think it was Wheeler?) Anyway, I am researching two families at the same time. I was born into one family, but adopted by another family and I have found out that I am actually blood related to both. I know it is very confusing to me, so I imagine it will be confusing to you (and other readers) too, until I can put it all on paper. I have an Isaiah Mitchell married to Elizabeth Rebecca English in Covingto County, in 1858. My source said that he went off to the Civil War and did not return. That Elizabeth Rebecca English married twice. The second time to Mastin P. "Picket" Brewer also in Covington Co., Al. That she was born in 1842 in Alabama and died in 1913 in Florala, Al., where she is burried in Greenwood Cemetary. Her father was James "Jim" English and her mothers name was "Mellie", but I have no last name or maiden name. These two, Isaiah and Elizabeth had two children Isaiah "Tobe" Mitchell and Frank Mitchell. Tobe was born April 1859 and died b/t 1929 and 1934. Frank was born Oct. 1861 in Covington Co., but I do not have a date of death. Although Isaiah did not return from the war, Elizabeth had two other children before she remarried in 1868. Mary Francis Elmetta Mitchell (who eventually married my adopted grandmothers brother, Charlie Monroe Lundy) born June 7, 1865 in Rose Hill,! Al. and died June 13, 1930 in Hacoda, Al. Girl number two was Caroline "Callie" Mitchell and was born April 13, 1867 in Covington Co., and died Nov. 27, 1938 in Covington Co. Al. Rumor had it the girls were the offspring of Jim Williams. After Elizabeth remarried to Mr Brewer in 1868, they had 5 children of their own. Isaiah "Tobe" Mitchell married Sara Elizabeth Chessor. They are both burried in Vally Grove Cemetary, supposedly, but I have yet to figure out where that is exactly. She had a sister named Julie Chessor. Sara was born June, 1861. I do not have who her mother or father was, and I do not have a date of death on her. Now, they had quite a few children: *Martha Annie Mitchell *John Franklin "J.J." Mitchell *Harvey I. Mitchell *Josiah Mitchell *William Arnold Mitchell *Sarah Elizabeth Mitchell *Mary S. Mitchell *Lonnie Jack Mitchell *Allen W. Mitchell *Willie Tommy "Willie T." Mitchell ??? Mitchel (I have no first name) I am directly related to the first two, and that is where I start my real research into who I really am!? Martha Annie, (notice the same name as mine--Annie) was my great grand-mother. John Franklin was my grand father. Brother and sister, both kin to me by blood, but one is my great-grandmother and one is my grandfather! Whew! That's a lot for me to comprehend most of the time. My mother, the one who adopted me when I was only 1 month old, Hazzie Vell Mitchell, was daughter of John Franklin. And the Lady who gave me away, Mary Louise Garrett, was the granddaughter of Martha Annie, who I was named after! To complicate things just a little bit, Martha Annie Mitchell married William Frank Garrett. He was the son of Rachael Lundy who was the sister of my great grand father, William Allen "Uncle Bill" Lundy His daughter Annie Jane Lundy married John Franklin Mitchell, and was the mother of Hazzie Vell Mitchell --My mother! I am not sure how the deal goes, as I am still kind of new to all this, but, I believe: my adopted mother and my blood mother are first cousins, once removed. Which makes me first cousins, twice removed to my adopted mother. And going the other way second cousins to my blood mother. With me in both slots, I am second cousins, once removed to MYSELF! Heheheh.... I have been told there was indian blood in the Mitchell family somewhere. Does anyone have any clues as to where?? My mother Hazzie Mitchell, definately had it in her. It was very obvious and her brother Alex Mitchell (Uncle Alex--pronounced Elick) looked a lot indian too. Mostly with the super high cheek bones, dark skin, lack of body hair, black hair and dark eyes. But I can not find any 'indian' stuff on the net so far. Well, that's the story I have to tell and I thank you all for helping in any way you can. Like I said, I am at a dead end now. You literally have all I have. If you have any more and would share with me I would be very much appreciative and In your debt. Lots of Love, Luck and Laughter in you life, Annie Lola Powell
