He had been critically ill for more than two months. Mr. Jones was a native of Evergreen and lived here all his life, except for some 15 years when he lived in Covington County near Brooklyn. He was the eldest child of the late George M. Jones and wife, Sophronia Autry Jones. He was beloved by a host of relatives and warm friends who are deeply grieved at his passing. Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 3:30 conducted by Rev. A.A. Staples, pastor of the first Baptist Church of which Mr. Jones had long been a member. Cope Funeral Home will direct arrangements. He is survived by four sisters, Mrs. E.R. Merrill, Andalusia; Mrs. J.D. Chapman, Evergreen; Misses Ethel thelma Jones, Evergreen; two brothers, Robert H., and Joseph E., both of Evergreen. Pall bearers are: George Bethune, Douglas Skinner, Joe Shoemaker, Brown Cannon, J.H.Robison, and E.C. Northcutt.
