Just to inform you that there is a very active effort in Alabama to restore the old cemeteries. It is the Old cemeteries preservation society. The librarian in Evergreen, Conecuh county is very active with this group, Sherry Johnson, she may be able to let you know if the cemetery that you are connected with is up for restoration, at least of all cleaning. She is actively trying to collect any and all information on various cemeteries, so many of them are forgotten or overgrown with vegation or destroyed by the lumbering companies as they forage through the overgrowth. She is able to get you connected with people in that area who might have written records, on mentions in family Bibles .....Burnt , Flooded and Hurricane damage has led many of us to Migraine headaches. We all are trying to restore any information on the citizens of Ala. through various records of any kind that might help us find our families. Please, continue to share your data that you know to be facts, even the oral histories of the families. So some day we will be able to find the information we need and make these people come to life again, not just a bunch of dates on a page. We will know how they came here, what they did to struggle in a land with nothing, to raise those large families, to educate them, survive Wars, famine, Yellow fever, Small Pox, and all the various aliments that no we longer have to fear. Be Proud of our heritage, and help to make them become more the data. Thanks, Deep roots in Ala. _Jdecon@aol.com_ (mailto:Jdecon@aol.com) ____________________________________ Get a sneak peek of the all-new _AOL.com_ (http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour/?ncid=AOLAOF00020000000982) . ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour
