Helms, and wife, Rebecca Ross, were included in last week's column along with some of their son, Hiram's, family. Another son of Hiram was John W. "Coleman" who was married to Louisianna Lossie Patrick, daughter of Dr. Thomas Jefferson Patrick of the Onycha community. Coleman and Louisianna later settled their family in the Niceville, Florida, area. They reared the following children: Ella M., b. 1881, m. 1903, J. Stein Day; Annie, b. 1882, m. 1901 Andrew J. "Ander" Henley; Louisianna Lossie, b. 1884, d. 1908, m. 1901 Luther C. Nelson; John William Jr., b. 1887, d. 1930, m. Pauline Mauguerite "Polly" Coon; Mary Alabama "Bama," b. 1888, d. 1944, m. 1904 John Atha Wilson "Athie" Day; Sarah Naomi, b. 1890, d. 1968, m. Jefferson Bryan, Jr.; James Robert "Bob," b. 1892, d. 1940, m. 1912 Audra Avinal Horne; Joel C., b. 1895, m. 1919 Lurah Clark; Leisa Ellen "Lecie," b. 1895, d. 1980, single; Jessie Ocola "Cola," b. 1898, d. 1980, m. Walter Cleveland Bou! twell; Julia Rebecca, b. 1899, d. 1990, m. Allen Cox; Emma Estelle, b.&d. 1902; Bessie Mae, b. 1903, d. 1983, m. Claude McVay; Fannie Lou, b. 1905, d. 1995, m. DeWitt Sasser; and Myrtie Lee "Dolly," b. 1907, d. 1965, m. Joseph Christopher Marler. Some of these families remained in South Alabama, and some moved to Texas and Florida.
