G.W. Simmons, Melissa, Gracey (or Grace), Mary, or a Betty? I have a letter written April 15th, 1866 (or 1860) from Prattville, AL to his "Aunt." He never refers to his "Aunt" by her first name, but he does refer to his Aunt Gracey, Mary and Betty and his cousin Melissa. (I am not sure if these ladies were married at the time of this letter or not, so their surnames may be different than Simmons.) I am trying to find out the name if this "Aunt" who the letter was to. At this point, I have no Simmons in my family tree, however I highly suspect my great great great grandmother was a Simmons. (If not, then I have no idea how this letter got into the mix with other family letters from the past.) I think G.W. was serving in the Civil War at the time he wrote this letter. Thank you!
