Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/RS.2ADI/1516.1.2 Message Board Post: The following names appear in Darlington, SC court documents. The Elizabeth Stokes in this document is Elizabeth Pierce Stokes who married John Joseph Stokes. They migrated to Indian Creek, AL (Bullock Co. -- might have been Pike County at the time). The names of the individuals in this document were more than likely children and/or grandchildren of Elizabeth Pierce's parents; therefore, there is a Jordan connection. I suspect that some of Elizabeth Pierce's brothers & sisters also migrated to the same general vicinity. To all to whom these presents shall come or be made known, or whom this same may in anywise concern, I, J. N. Garner Clerk of the Court of Common Pleas of the County of Darlington in the said state send greeting; whereas Sallie L. (?) Pierce on or about the 27th day of September in the year one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven did exhibit her complaint in the Court of Common Pleas in the County of Darlington and State aforesaid against James M. Pierce, William Jordan, Bettie(?) Windham, Anna Windham, Thomas Jordan, Oscar J.(?) Jordan, John --(?) Jordan, Jacob Pierce, Eliza Stanley, Elizabeth Stokes, Franklin M. Pierce, T------(?) J. W. (?) Pierce, Mary J. Brown, Nancy A. J.(?) Weeks, Sarah A. Spears, Martha S. A. Farris (?) and Amanda Deas, praying amongst other things for the sale of certain real estate and the cause being at issue before the Honorable the Court aforesaid came, on to be heard, on the 27th day of September, one thousand eight-hundred and eighty-seven.! .. If these names ring any bells, I will be glad to provide the information I have on the Stokes family.
