    3. The gentleman's name is LeRoy Thompson, caucasian. He said it is possible that at one time it was Lee Roy Thompson. The military and Social Security used his school records since a birth certificate couldn't be found. He has been given two years of birth - 1917 and 1915. The old school records gave the name of the mother as Mary Black and the father as Thompson, possibly Charles or William. He has few memories of his family - one being remembering getting a drink of water for his mother. He said he was sent into the below ground shelter when the tornado was coming. The rest of the family was gathering items to take into the shelter when the tornado hit. After living with the prinicpal of a school (E. A. Ward, possibily) until age five, he was sent to something possibly called the Alabama Industrial Boys school until age 15. Between 1934 and 1940 he played baseball with the Birmingham Barons. He served in LA in WWII in the Army. Thanks for all of your help. barb andrews redondo beach, ca On Jul 23, 2007, at 8:00 AM, GNW wrote: > Is this man Black or White? > What is his name? > If he was born by 1910 he would be on a census. > > > There was a Jackson Lumber Mill in Lockhart, Al. > > Thursday, September 15, 1904 > Laurel Hill News.
