In the letter she wrote that her mother, Mittie Robinson McLelland, said that an Uncle Hose (Hosea sic?) Holley went to town one day and while he was there, his family was killed by his slaves. The slaves were then killed for their crimes. My grandmother's family lived in Coffee & Covington Counties, so it could be either place.The time was not mentioned, but obviously, this was prior to the Civil War. She also mentioned a Dr. Alf Holley who was another cousin of her Uncle Ora McLelland who came to visit him in Brewton, Escambia, Al. As Ora lived in Covington, Al. and possibly Brewton, Escambia, Al. from 1880-1964,it was most likely during that time period.
