My grandmother Duncan's mom was an Acree. Her name was Katie Acree of Alabama & all I have on her was that she was born about 1889 & all I know is that on the 1900 U S Census of Alabama, Surles,Crenshaw County,Alabama I see her as 11 years old but living with a cousin & his wife. The cousin listed is a George M Hall age 29 at the time(so born abt 1871) & his wife was Sarah A. Hall age 33(so born abt 1867). So, did Katie Acree's parents die? Is this why she is living with her cousin? Then on the 1910 censusI see Katie married to my great grandpa Franklin Clifton Bennett& they were still in the Crenshaw County, Alabama area. She had 2 kids by then Fannie & Nathaniel, ages 4 & 1 yr. Then in 1920 Census Katie is still in Crenshaw County, Al area(Surles & Coleman). She has 5 kids by now, one of which is my grandmother Althea Mae Bennett. But my needs are this. I have nothing on the Acrees!! absolutely not knowing who Katies parents are, etc, make me real sad, so does anyone know of a Katie Acree who apparently seems orpaned by age 11 for sure & maybe even sooner & lived with a cousin George M Hall of Surles,Crenshaw Co.,Alabama. Please help me out here. This is the only branch of the family tree that has nothing!! What a shame. I'd love to hear from relatives. I know Katie must have died by age 31 or so,,abt 1926 I believe because the later census shows her husband married to an El! iza somebody raising Katies kids & my grandmother, Althea Mae married a Robert Samuel Duncan, left the house by then. Help Help HELP!! Anything would be appreciated!!!... Thanks! Peggy Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
