    3. I am looking for information on the disposition of a criminal case that first occurred in Covington County in Jan 1891..... Dr Cicero Jones shot and killed Dr. W. J. Head and there was some court hearing and the judge ruled 2nd degree murder..... Dr Jones left Alabama and went to Brazil where he died in 1924.....They (in Brazil) seem to think he was tried in absentia after the turn of the century and found not guilty... If someone has access to the court records and could tell me if that actually happened, it would solve a great mystery. Any help will be greatly appreciated..... thanks a lot...docjones, Melbourne FL docjones35@bellsouth.net

    2. Hi Doc, The Covington Co. Courthouse burned in 1895, but I'm not sure if ALL records were lost or not. If the trial was after 1900, maybe you'll get lucky. I won't be up that way again before late December, if then. Maybe someone will volunteer to look for you. I've actually never tried to access any criminal records, but I do hope they are accessible. I need one from 1900 in Conecuh Co. next door. I've always looked only in the probate records in both places. Good luck! 3. Cheryl, thanks for the reply.. Hopefully someone will be able to take a look for me. I have been able to access the newspaper reports from 1891, but the thought in Brazil is that around 1910, there was a trial....Maybe I will get lucky for a change....doc ----- Original Message ----- From: irishsttr2@aol.com To: docjones35@bellsouth.net Cc: ALCOVING@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, October 09, 2006 7:12 PM Subject: Re: [ALCOVING] Court Look UP Hi Doc, The Covington Co.
