They have a web site at www.andalusiastarnews.com with an obituary section, but you won't find a 1932 obit on their site. You could call them or if you can get to the Andalusia Public Library, they have a genealogy section that will likely have the old newspapers on microfilm.
Children are not responsible for the actions taken by the adult parents. Therefore, I have included my step-grandchildren and their biological parents in my Family Tree.. They would feel really bad if they were not included in my family tree. I have even done research on some of their other family just for them. Like anything else in life, we must consider what we are leaving behind and what effect it will have on those surviving. Take nude photo's for instance. How might they effect the person who must go through them after your gone? There are consequences to every move we make.

Since this date is AFTER John Franklin was born so if I am looking at the right people, then Nancy can't be the mother of John Franklin." This date (21 Nov 1872) is actually some 14-15 years BEFORE the birthdate of John Franklin SIMS, not AFTER--therefore, I see no reason (if the marriage date you provided is correct) that this couple could not have been John Franklin's parents.

Molsey Edenton HOLLEY (da. of Calvin HOLLEY and Mary MANCILL) was first married to Benjamin DOZIER (1825-1861), eldest son of Daniel DOZIER and Elizabeth TAYLOR. Molsey's second husband Hamilton PARRISH was one my ancestors--he and his first wife Belinda HANDLEY were my great-great-great-grandparents, through their daughter Elefare PARRISH (1840-1904) who married (first) to Jacob Perry MERRILL. Elefare and her sister Mary Jane "Sis" (Mrs. James SIMS) were, as far as I know, the only two of Hamilton PARRISH's children who stayed in Covington Co., AL when he and the others went to Texas.

My opinion is that they are a FAMILY and it is not our duty to determine how that got there. Step children are more related than adopted children. Kay
Odessa, I think it's a good idea to add them to your tree because you can sometimes find information on related ancestors in documents or research involving the step children. I found this out the hard way lol. Hope this answers your question. ;) Amiee Green _bazejumper@aol.com_ (mailto:bazejumper@aol.com)
Hey y'all, I have a question. What is the rule about adding step children to a family tree?? I personally think it is unncessary but some families think it's important to include non-relations in an official family tree. What is the official rule? To GNW - I sent you this reply but it was rejected: Thanks for your reply and for that info. I have already looked at Greenwood. Her funeral was held at the Baptist Church at Florala, but the obit does not say where the burial was. Family members say that it was Chapel Hill, but she is not on that list either.
Would anyone know if there is a listing of burials online for the Florala Baptist Church? I have not been able to find it. Thanks, Melissa

Sims, born in what looks like Luverne, Alabama. Mother: Says, N. Nancy Welch, born in Crenshaw, Rutledge. The informant was G. J. (Garnie J. Sims, son). There is a death record of Thomas J. Sims in Crenshaw County for Thomas J.; born 18 January 1852 and died 26 January 1911. The informant is Mrs. Ida Sims. There is a marriage record of Thomas J. Sims to Nancy J. Welch, married on 21 November 1872 in Crenshaw County, Alabama. Since this date is AFTER John Franklin was born so if I am looking at the right people, then Nancy can't be the mother of John Franklin. However, there is another marriage record of Thomas J. Sims to Ida Dismukes who was born 10 August 1859 and died 1 March 1925. Thomas J. and Ida married in Crenshaw County on 2 December 1880. It is entirely possible that Ida was the mother of John Franklin and died sometime after his birth in 1886 and the second marriage of Thomas to Nancy. If this is the case, it is entirely possible that John Franklin's children were not even aware of this so they would have listed the parents as those they knew. And of course, the flip side is that these are two different Thomas J. Sims as there is an entry on the 1910 County, Beat 4, Honoraville, Census with an Ida but it states they have been married only once and for 27 years. Thomas J. appears on the 1910 Crenshaw County, Beat 4, Honoraville, Census on line 41, 285/287, Sims, Thomas J., head, M, W, 58, M1, 27 years, born in Alabama, father in Ireland, mother in Georgia, speaks English and he is listed as the Postmaster. Ida, Wife, F, 51, M1, 27, 8 children born, 5 living, born Alabama, both parents born in Georgia. William J., son, 21 and single, Lucian (?), son, 16 and single, ? I feel strongly that John Franklin Sims is related to my Sims family and I am trying to gather whatever information I can to either prove or disprove that theory.
