I have some info on William J. Batson, son of David Batson. Also am looking for info on Mary Batson head of household in 1850 Dale Co. census: Batson, Mary 45 SC Simmons, James 25 AL Laborer , Deborah 29 AL , Anna E. 19 AL Batson, Leroy 15 AL Laborer , Martin T. 13 AL , Ashley 11 AL Bowling, Emeline 6 AL Simmons, Henry 6 AL Bowling, Madison 1 AL Deborah Simmons married Jacob Bowlin. It is believed that the Simmons are children of Mary's 1st marriage. All the above Batsons seem disappear after 1850.

I am descended from Mosley Hollye Dozier and Hamilton Parrish through their youngest son, Benjamin. Mosley was first married to Benjamin Dozier. When Hamilton and Mosley moved to Texas, several of Mosley's children by Benjamin went with them, as well as several of Hamilton's children by his first wife, Belinda Handley. One of Hamilton and Belinda's sons, James Irwin Parrish, married one of Mosley and Benjamin's daughters, Mary Elizabeth, mixing these step-families even more.

    3. In the book " Early History of Covington County, Alabama 1821-1871" by Wyley Donald Ward on page 316 , Appendix I is a Muster Roll of Company A, Covington County Reserves, dated August 27, 1864. On page 319 there is a list of Company C, Covington County Reserves, dated September 14, 1864. These would be the lists of the Home Guard during the WBTS for Covington Co. I would like to find the documentation for these Muster Rolls. Does anyone know where these original records would be found ? It is not in the records kept by the National Archives and the names are not on the offical index of soldiers. I am wondering if it could be found in the county records somewhere? Does anyone know? Help would be most appreciated! Jackie McInnis
