I see him on the 1850 Covington County census with wife Nellie, then with wife Susan on the 1860, 1870, 1880 censuses. I am wondering if the wife Nellie was a Johnson, sister of my gg-grandfather. James Dreading is next door to my gg-grandfather James Johnson on the 1840 Conecuh census. And they are next door to William and Polly Johnson on the 1850 census, whom I am beginning to believe were my James Johnson's parents. Love to hear from you. Ken Johnson

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Lee Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/RS.2ADI/1605 Message Board Post: Friday, Nov 18, 1904 (The Living Truth or Greenville Advocate??) OBITUARY DIED NOV. 1st 1904 AT 8:45 P.M. Mrs. Martha Lee Wife of Mr. Ben Lee of McKenzie, Ala. in the 68th Year of Her Age If there ever was a case of beauty to death, it was exemplified when Aunt Martha Lee died. Having been sick about 2 1/2 weeks bearing her illness with such Christian like fortitude and resignation that it was a beautiful illustration of how a true Christian can meet the ordeal of death. Without a struggle or a movement of the body to indicate pain her soul took its flight to heaven and now soars with the angels above. Having had a large family and an extensive concourse of friends, Mrs. Lee was especially blest in having her every wish and desire gratified. Yes, everything that kind hearts and willing hands can do was cheerfully performed for her. In Mrs. Lee's demise she left to mourn her irreparable loss her husband, familiarly and affectionately called "Uncle Ben" and 8 children, 5 girls and 3 boys. All except the two youngest boys are married and fortune has blessed these unions with 35 children and two grandchildren a total of 35 grandchildren and two great g! randchildren. She's not dead but simply asleep. Then why should you for her weep. She has gone to realms of Eternal bliss; Then would you call her back to a place like this? She's much rather you'd join her up there Where all is bliss and each day is fair. Then mourn me not as one that's lost; My salvation is safe; I have paid the cost. I have tried to live in the true Christian faith, All who do so are saved, the Lord saith: Yes I am safe; my Salvation is won; Come to me husband, daughters, and sons.
