This Larkin Douglas was born in 1906 and died in Texas in 1988 but was probably related to the Larkin Douglas that you are speaking of. I have not been able to locate any information, other than the social security death index on Larkin. I can't even find any information on my grandfather, Joseph who was in the Army and died in Richmond, VA in 1961. Any help would be greatly appreciated as my grandfather died when my mother was 7 and she knows nothing about him. Thank you!!!

I do know that he was a warden in a prison that was in Covington Co in the 1900s and they had a Negro lady who worked in the house, but I don't think they had any slaves. He was married to the daughter of John Morgan Snead who was a judge in Andalusia for some time. If you have any information on the Sneads, I would be interested. Jackie

I understand a Joe Jernigan was the first settler on Possum Trot in the 1820's and also was the only one to own slaves in Convington County. I have been unable to locate any further information about him or any decendants. Do you think your Joe Jernigan might be the same person?
