I know there is a little about it on http://www.theshadowlands.net/places/alabama.htm. Also the Alabama Dept of Corrections history mentions a prison in Riverfalls in 1926. My dad said this was also the location of the Horseshoe Lumber Co. I wondered if the state was not leasing out the inmates to work at the lumber co.. It seems like I found something else, but I didn't save where I found it and my mind can't think back that far. I don't think you can get there from the road anymore cause it is fenced off and hubby said the building looked ready to fall into the river. Good luck in finding more and if I come across anything else I will post it.
Seeking information regarding the family of a Thomas Joseph Parr b ca 1882 in Al. Thomas and his wife Ida (b ca 1889 in Al) are listed in the 1920 census of Covington co living at Sanford. They have 7 children with them. Being unable to locate Thomas and Ida in the 1930 census and having found their children living with a Wm T and Nealie Hicks in Sanford in Covington co, it was surmised that Thomas and Ida had passed. I have checked the Al death index on Ancestry and failed to find Ida. I did find a Thomas Parr who died in Jefferson Co in 1918, but have not been able to get to the LDS library to check the death cert. I would appreciate any information you might have on this family
