David Nealon Jordan and Fannie Smith Jordan had a son named John Henry. The family lived in Covington County, AL 1850s to about 1891. They then moved to Texas, finally settling in Mt. Vernon, Franklin County, TX. This John Henry Jordan married Miranda Draper in TX. Their children were Thelma (married a Barnett), Ferd, Fannie, John Holly, Laura Lou, Norman Lee, David Nealon, Nora Elizabeth, and Roydon. John Henry was described as "nomadic" and a good trader. I don't see any Crawford's associated with this Jordan family. Sherrie Johnson

I've had a hard time finding too many others with connections back to John and Elizabeth. I would love to share what I have with you and also see if you have any new/different information. I've tried emailing you at the address listed for you, but it keeps getting bounced back. Do you have another email address by chance? I have too much other information to post here. I note in Scott's post that he mentions Franklin Hall. In the 1850 Census of Covington Co., living with Franklin are John and Nancy Mattocks [sic] and their children. Also living with Franklin is what appears to be his mother Millie, age 65. Franklin Hall, Nancy Maddox, and Millie Hall all state they were born in Florida. Based on this, Nancy could be a Hall. On the 1860 Census of Covington Co., John and Nancy Maddox are on their own farm. John Maddox disappears after this census. Nancy Maddox is next found on the 1870 Census, living in Jackson Co. FL with most of her children. Their daughter Emerline/Emiline Maddox married my gg uncle Franklin P. Hurst there in Jackson Co. FL in 1871. I am trying to locate the families of origin for both John Maddox and Nancy. John stated he was born in GA. My questions: did John Maddox die in Covington Co., and if so, where is he buried? Where in GA did he originate, and who is his family of origin? Is Nancy a Hall, and if so, what are her parents' names (possibly assuming Millie Hall is her mother), and from where in FL did they originate? Franklin & Emerline Maddox Hurst's direct descendants, my cousins, and I are trying to trace this Maddox family. Any information would be deeply appreciated!
