    2. I too, am related to these Nelsons. The elder G.W. Nelson went by "Buck" Nelson and is a cuz to "Wash " . Buck Nelson m. Sarah Carpenter and the mystery is why their first child was William Hall.?Their son "Quillie" is my ggrandfather. Buck is buried in Antioch Baptist outside Elba along with many other nelson

Both George Washington "Wash" Nelson's are related as I understand. My question is? Do you know either one of these George W Nelson's fathers. I have also heard of a Hall connection but do not have that data either. My grandmother Zelphia Nelson who married Stephen "Teb" Jackson is the daughter of the first Nelson listed above.     2. I looked at the Alabama death index--there is a Joe Raley listed in 1953, he died in Jefferson. There is no William who died in 1952. Have you checked with Funeral Homes in the area. April 18, 1817, Wilkinson County, GA are: Mazuryann Samantha Childre was born March 5th 1839 William Jacob born September 3rd, 1840 Waid Hampton born February 19th, 1842 Maryann Charlotty born July 20th, 1843 Orin Iverson born January the 22nd, 1845 Squire Nathan was born April the 27th, 1846 Marthann Edney was born August 3rd, 1848 Elizyann Priscillia was born August 20th, 1849 Isaac Micajah was born June(? hard to read) 24th, 1850 Francisann Elizabeth born August 22nd, 1851 Susanne Martila was born December 13, 1853 Mandy Caroline was born March 13th, 1856 - Mandy Caroline departed this life October the 27th 1861 at sunrise. Margret Cassie Jane was born February 18th, 1859 Tillman D. Oxford was born January 1st, 1861 Nathan Childre and Martha Wells were William's parents. They lived in Wilkinson and Crawford Counties in GA. I have had a hard time finding records on these because the area they lived in was destroyed during Sherman's march through GA. Courthouses burned, churches burned, etc.
