JOHN HOLMAN JOHN HOLMAN 1778-1843 The life of John Holman & all those he left behind is not finished, but here is some of what we know about him now in 2006. We first find John in Clarke County Georgia where he & his wife Polly Chisholm are selling land. We know Polly died Feb 12, 1918, but do not know if Georgia or they were already in Alabama. She left 6 children behind. Next we find John has married Mary Elizabeth Underwood in Montgomery Alabama June 28, 1821. She assisted John in raising all the children while giving birth to John's other 8 children. We know this from census records. We find them living in Coosa County, Alabama, where John died Nov 29, 1843. Elizabeth remains in Coosa, now Elmore & is on 1850 census with 5 of her children. John bought this land where they made their home in 1821. Elizabeth dies, in 1857 & Probate records show her estate being divided by all of John's children. The big story is the generations John has left behind. I hope I have not left anyone out. Records were taken from census records, a copy of Bible records, searches at courthouses as well as information told by family members. Newspaper abstracts tell that John Holman owned the first painted home ion Elmore County. John we have all come to love you thru our search & hope to meet you in our Father's house. The search is not over as we endeavor to find John's parents, and John lives on in each of his descendants. Virginia Howard 2006 gammyvh@alltel.net Young Harris. Ga.
