    3. William C. Brown was living in Talladega Ct. in 1853. However the three counties come together at a given point. Talladega, Coosa, and Clay. Hatchett Creek Presbyterian Church is located in Brownville Community . This is just a hop skip and jump from Clay and Coosa Counties. according to the book Hatchett Creek Presbyterian Church 1832- 1982, Clay County, Alabama. A Record through June 30, 1982, compiled by Mary E. Watts. On page four it mentions William Brown. Page 4, Atter the Treaty of Cusseta, the state legislature created nhine counties, including Talladega, from the ceded lands on Dec. 18, 1932. Settlers from surrounding counties in the state began to come into Talladega Co., to settle the recently ceded lands. Others came form the Carolinas, Tenn., and other states later on. Those coming to the Brownville area were mainly from the Cape Fear region of North Carolina which had been settled largely by immigrants from Scotland or of Scottish ancestry form North Ireland. It has not been possible to determine just when these earliest settlers first came into the community, but records of the land patents giving ownership of the land are recorded for some in the Tract Book for Talladega Co., Some of these are: Malcomlm Patterson in March, 1835, Theodore Levie in Septl, 1835; Daniel Smith in Dec., 1836; Martin T. Bull in Dec., 1836 (land for which his father, William C. Bull, had earlier entered a claim); William C. Brown in March, 1837; Thomas B. Graham in March, 1837; Catherine Bethune in Feb., 1838; Gideon Braddy in May, 1839. Duncan and John B. Brown were there by 1835 as they are said to have been charter members of the hatchett Creek Presbyterian Church. listed on page 27 (unter Chronological Membership Roll Col. William C. Brown, m.
