The son of William and Jane Castleberry. I have quite a bit of information on Lacy but I don't know when he died or where he is buried. I know most of the family is buried at the Old Salem Baptist Church and I think there are gravesites on the "old Castleberry farm". I suspect Lacy is there, but I sure need some help. I know Lacy comes home from the war as he and his wife, Elizabeth (Parker)have a son, Allen born in 1866. In 1870 (federal census), William and sons Jeremiah and Enoch are all still in Coosa County, but not Lacy and family. In 1880 (federal census), Elizabeth and the younger children have moved to Yalobusha County, Mississippi. She lives next door to her Alfred and his family. Her brother Martin Parker moved to Mississippi also and they are buried in the same cemetery. So Lacy dies between 1866 and 1880, a fourteen year period. I'd like to narrow that down if possible (assuming little is known about his death and grave site). There are a few bits of info that would help me in my quest. 1. Is the Old Salem Baptist Church still in operation and if so, how might I contact them (I'd like to inquire about the cemetery records)? 2. I don't know what Dr. J. Castleberry's book has to say about Lacy? 3. Where is Elizabeth Parker Castlebery in 1870? 4. Does Lacy appear on the 1867 voter registration list? 5. Would a death certificate exist? I live in Mississippi and don't have access to records not on line. Any help would be most appreciated.
